Music at National City Christian Church
Shout to the Lord, all the earth, ring out your joy.
Sing Psalms to the Lord with the harp, with the sound of music.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn acclaim the King, the Lord.
Believing that all music and art serve as transcendent pathways to the presence and healing power of God, the Ministry of Music at National City Christian Church strives to strengthen, inspire, and speak directly to the souls of all people through its sacred music and arts programs. Through careful preparation and presentation guided by the Holy Spirit, through complex choral anthems and the simplest songs, through painting, stained glass, and knitting, we strive daily to offer our very best to God and provide avenues of beauty to those who enter the doors of this church.
As the “national church” of the Disciples of Christ denomination, we are aware that people come to this great church wanting and expecting music that is indeed special and not something heard in everyday life – music with grandeur that is befitting of the sanctuary’s majestic size and marvelous acoustics. We offer sacred music that is not heard in the day-to-day walk of life and that lifts and inspires in a way not duplicated in a smaller church setting. Art displays afford both artists and viewers to praise the Lord through the gifts of the creative works of people’s hands as well as their minds and hearts.
With God’s help, we are committed to an artistic diversity that reflects our church membership, our neighborhood, and the international city in which we live. We endeavor to deepen our congregation’s worship experience and create music that touches all generations. In the manner of Christ, we seek to serve this church’s community and our city by taking inviting those in our neighborhood and people from around the world to share in the gift of music with us. It is our mission to have music and the arts minister to all people as we celebrate, together, the wonder and beauty of God’s hand in all of creation.
