Disciples Women (Christian Women’s Fellowship)
Disciples Women (Christian Women’s Fellowship) is for all women in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Here at National City we have a small, but dedicated group of women who meet regularly to provide opportunities for women to develop in Christian living and service. General meetings are usually on the first Tuesday of the month at 11 am in the Music Suite.
In addition to the general meetings, there are 3 different circles. Circle 1 meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from September through June. Circle 2 meets when scheduled by the leader and the Betty Mills group does not meet at the moment because their members are scattered across the country. However they continue their interest and support of the mission work in Ascuncion, Paraguay.
Major service projects include contributing to the Disciples Mission Fund, making “cough pillows” for the American Heart Association, encouraging congregational support on “Blanket Sunday” to buy blankets for use by Church World Service where disasters occur, and providing leadership for the Angel Tree project to buy Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents.
Fellowship is vital in the life of the church and the CWF. Therefore, at our monthly general meetings we join together for lunch for a time of deepening friendships and good conversations. This fellowship is continued in our circle meetings.
The president of Disciples Women is Kathleen Swihart.
