Christian Action and Community Service at National City Christian Church
Our Mission
Our mission is to Share God's Love. We want to witness to our faith--loving God and loving our neighbors as ourselves through our efforts to feed, house, heal, comfort, support, educate, and bring hope to the people of our community. National City offers a wide range of opportunities for active Christian service in our neighborhood and the city.
Who's Involved
Our goal is to have every member of National City participate in Christian action and community service at least once this year, but you do not have to be a member of NCCC to participate in Christian action with us. Anyone reading this is invited to serve--no special skills are needed. Regardless of your age or state of health, you can make loving contributions.
To join in service with us or for more information, please contact Judy Lotz, Department Chair, at jllotz@cox.net, or contact the leaders of the various activities listed below.
Christian Action and Community Service
In community service, we seek to Share God's Love through three, overlapping kinds of Christian action: (1) charity, including immediate and short-term assistance for emergency and acute need; (2) support services, including on-going, medium-term help and long-term solutions for people with chronic problems; and (3) advocacy, including action to help prevent and eliminate hunger, homelessness, general poverty, and basic injustice, and action in support of children and quality schools and education. Our community service ministries include the following:
-
Earth Stewardship Ministry
-
Special Programs and Events
-
N Street Ministries
-
Martha's Table
Prayer
Please pray for our homeless neighbors; for those who are poor and hungry in our city; for children in the DC public schools and for their parents and teachers; for our neighbors who are struggling with addiction; for the mentally and physically ill; for the lonely and the depressed; for those out of work; for those in prison; for those who are anxious or afraid; for each other.
