Easter Sunday Devotion – Alleluia!!
“The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’ Then they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb, they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest.” Luke 24:5-9
Gracious, heavenly God,
today we remember the time long ago
when faithful women proclaimed
the good news of the resurrection of Jesus
and the world was changed forever.
As we prepare for worship on this Easter morn,
make us mindful of the needs of our church and the world.
We are grateful for the witness of many persons
who have shared their faith through these Lenten devotions.
Bless them, as they have been a blessing to us these 40 days.
May we continue to be strengthened in our daily walk with you.
We pray for those who yet do not know
your generous love and gracious mercy.
Reconcile the whole of your creation with Christ
that we may join our words and actions
with all who are dedicated to the ministry of reconciliation
Teach us to keep the faith, O God,
that our love may be deep,
our care may be helpful,
our witness may be strong,
and our worship ever joyful,
until all gather at the feast of new life
in the kingdom where you reign
for ever and ever.
